My wife and I are living our own little episode of "This Old House". Built in 1850 and located in Lebanon, CT , this place has become quite a project restoring. The previous owners had let the property overgrow and the barns go into a state of disrepair. The house itself was move-in condition, but every room in the house will need a bit of attention due to poor craftsmanship and cheap materials. As a result of all the work that needed to be done, the property was now affordable for us in a difficult housing market. If it were not for the land and the barns we would never have wasted our time, but it looked like it was at least worth a chance, we could never lose. I had estimated it to take 10 years to reverse the mess that this place had become and its been 7 years of work so far.

We love living here in Lebanon which is rich with history, dirt roads and good people. Throughout the seasons it is a common sight to see a horse drawn carriage or a hay wagon travel past the house, almost the way you would imagine it to be if you stepped back in time to the 1800's when life wasnt so hectic and crazy. The property itself is almost 4 acres with 650+ feet of road frontage and there are 2 barns on it. The barn to the left in the photo below I now use for the goats and chickens and the barn on the right is an English Style Barn that was built sometime in the 1850's. It is structurally sound with beautiful wood beams and a nice stone foundation. I have been working on this barn one side at a time and I have a lot of work left to do but one day it will again be the pride of this property as it was in the mid 1800's.

This website is my way of sharing our journey with you. The big plan is finally coming together now and I hope you enjoy the photos and video's I have posted, but more importantly, I hope you enjoy our efforts here at this old house even more.
