This first photo below is how the barn looked when we bought this place. As rotted as it looked from the outside, it was structurally solid and showed a lot of promise on the inside. To me it was a piece of Connecticut farmland history that someone spent many countless hours building in a time when the tooling was basic and the materials better.
This is the restoration of an English Style Barn that has stood proudly on this property in Lebanon,Ct for over 150 years and will still be standing proud long after I am gone ! Honestly if it were not for this decrepid looking barn we would not have bought this property. The moment I walked in this barn and laid eyes on the wood beams and the general layout, I fell in love. In the beginning I had friends and neighbors ask me ...
Ya Gonna Knock Her Down ?I said...Nope, Im gonna help her back up !
I still have a lot of work to do, but all good things take time, effort and money. Its really a shame that I am not a governor or a senator , then I wouldnt need any of that, just a good state contractor.
Alas... Im just a regular guy and I have taken this barn on one side at a time because I am doing most of the work myself. The links above on this page will reflect the progress I have made so far on this small piece of Connecticut History that I like to think I saved from a wrecking ball.
